Look younger live longer

Wouldn’t it be great if taking healthy steps to live longer could help you look younger too? The idea is not as far-fetched as it may sound.

Let’s start with stress, and why it’s important that you control it, rather than it controlling you. As with most things, a little stress is good – but too much and you run the risk of seriously damaging your health.

Long-term, on-going stress quite literally wears you out. The digestive system starts to work less efficiently, leading to symptoms such as bloating, constipation and mouth ulcers.

Your heart is affected, so blood pressure starts to rise, blood is more inclined to clot, and your cholesterol levels may go up, too.

Your sleep patterns are disrupted, and you lose your ‘edge’ – making it harder to concentrate, and you, more inclined to reach for the coffee cup or cigarette. The outward signs of a stressed you – like blotchy skin, dark rings under the eyes, limp, lifeless hair and a wrinkled brow – soon make themselves known. Not only do you look older, you feel older, too!
